Q&A: • How do I delete custom blocks? - Annie Tap the folder icon to bring up the custom block display and then triple-tap on the block you want to delete. An "X" will be displayed across the block and a menu will ask you if you want to display the block. Touch YES to delete the block. This is also the method to delet custom borders. For custom quilts, tap the block icon. • When will Quilter's App be available on Droid phones? - Linda and others Not yet. We wish we could announce Droid distribution but it would be premature for us to announce a release date now. • Why can't I see the photos of my fabric? - Jane Apple requires that you have location services enabled for applications to have access to your photo library. Please make sure you have location services enabled in your settings. • Could the layout be variable in the number of cells it contains? - Jeana, Jennifer Yes. This is in Quilter's App 6.0. New instructional videos on this website show how to use the border to adjust the quilt grid. • How do I assign different colors or fabrics to individual patch pieces within a block? - Laura Triple-tap on the patch. An 'X' will display on the patch and a menu will ask if you want to separate the patch. If you select "yes", the patch will be separated from it's group and it will become the active patch for fabric and color assignment. • I am hoping you can create another section that will allow us to use triangles, squares, hexagons, etc. to create our own blocks. Some of these would be useful for creating English paper piecing designs. - Sandie There is now a hexagon stock quilt available under the retrieve stock quilts icon. There are no borders, sashes or cornerstones in the piece quilt so those tools are turned off. On the iPhone, use the hexagon quilt as if it were a single block. Each patch is separate. On the iPad, there is no need for double-tapping. Tap each patch when you are ready to color it. • Why doesn't the photo album dismiss on my iPad. - Shelagh This will happen if you forgot to double-tap a block to make it active. There is nowhere to put the photo. In this case, you can dismiss the photo album by tapping anywhere outside of it. • I would love to pick a custom color from a fabric I have in my custom fabric library. - Kathryn This is a great idea, Kathryn! In version 6.8, you can pick a color from a fabric. See the tip in the next column for more details. • I would love to see a few quilt layouts such as Lone Star and Baby Blocks. - Valerie Lone Star and two versions of Tumbling Blocks have been added in version 6.8. The first Tumbing Blocks has each patch separate. The second Tumbling Blocks uses three patch sets: one for the top, one for the left, and one for the right side.
• I would like to be able to save my palette along with the quilt I'm working on. - Valerie Thank you Valerie! In version 7, palettes are save along with quilts. Also you can save and retrieve palettes independently. |
TIPS: Sometimes a new version will not install correctly. This is due to how Apple manages programs. If this should happen to you:
Have you tried separating patches yet? When you triple-tap on a patch, you are given the option of separating the patch from it's set. This allows you to assign fabrics and colors to the individual patch. You can select a color from a fabric. When there is a fabric in the large color box, double-tap one of the small color boxes and an eyedropper Quilter's App works best when you keep the sets of your saved blocks, borders, and quilts to just the active ones you need. To delete a saved custom item, go to the retrieve menu and triple-tap the item to be deleted. A prompt will be shown to ask if you do want to delete the item and an "X" will appear to show you the item to be deleted. Delete the old custom item to save computer memory. Did you know that a cornerstone is treated as a block? You can retrieve standard or custom blocks into cornerstones and assign fabrics and colors. All cornerstones in a quilt are the same. When you change one, you change them all. Remember to use the color boxes to color an English paper piece quilt. And remember that on the iPhone, you can zoom in on the quilt and move it around in order to select a patch. Each patch is separate.
